eGFR on TRT

What the number means, why it moves on a protocol, and what people usually do about it.

Updated 2026-09-26 · Part of the Magno guides

What it is

eGFR estimates how well the kidneys filter, calculated from creatinine, age and sex. It is only as good as the creatinine that feeds it.

The range

TRT-aware target

over 90 mL/min/1.73

How to read the lab range

Above 90 is normal; 60 to 89 is mildly decreased on paper and normal for most adults; under 60 on two tests is kidney disease.

How Magno reads it

Import the PDF or a photo of the report and Magno finds eGFR on it, keeps every test on one line, shows the change since the last one, and reads it against TRT-aware thresholds rather than the lab's generic range. The panel it belongs to, Kidney & Electrolytes, gets a written verdict with the probable causes and what people usually do.

eGFR 75 on TRT, is that a problem?

Usually not. Creatine and muscle mass explain most of it. Cystatin C settles the question.
