Sex Hormones
Prolactin on TRT
What the number means, why it moves on a protocol, and what people usually do about it.
What it is
Prolactin is a pituitary hormone. In men it should stay low; when it climbs it blunts libido, erections and mood.
The range
TRT-aware target
under 15 ng/mL
How to read the lab range
Labs quote roughly 4 to 15 ng/mL (85 to 320 mIU/L). Mildly above that is common after stress, poor sleep or sex before the draw; clearly above deserves a repeat and a doctor.
Why it moves on a protocol
- 19-nor compounds (nandrolone, trenbolone) push it up.
- Stress, poor sleep, and an orgasm in the hours before the draw.
- Some medications, and rarely a pituitary adenoma.
What people usually do · not a recommendation
- Retest fasted, rested, no sex the night before.
- On 19-nors people use P5P (vitamin B6) as the soft fix and cabergoline through a doctor as the hard one.
- A persistent rise off any compound goes to a doctor for imaging.
How Magno reads it
Import the PDF or a photo of the report and Magno finds Prolactin on it, keeps every test on one line, shows the change since the last one, and reads it against TRT-aware thresholds rather than the lab's generic range. The panel it belongs to, Sex Hormones, gets a written verdict with the probable causes and what people usually do.

Questions people ask
Why is my prolactin high on nandrolone?
19-nor compounds act on the same receptors that keep prolactin in check. It usually settles when the compound stops.
Does TRT raise prolactin?
Testosterone alone does not, or barely. A rise on plain TRT usually has another cause.
